The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
Set in 1482 Paris, “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame” tells the tragic tale of Esmeralda, a young Romani dancer, who becomes the object of desire for several men including the hunchback bell-ringer, Quasimodo, and his guardian, Archdeacon Claude Frollo. Amidst love, betrayal, and mistaken identities, Esmeralda is wrongly sentenced to death. As Frollo and Quasimodo watch her execution, Quasimodo, in despair pushes Frollo off Notre Dame’s tower to his death and subsequently disappears, leaving a poignant legacy of his love for Esmeralda.
